Abstract(in English) Optical system for the ultra-compact CRT projection display with slim set-depth and wide viewing angle has been developed.For reduction of set-depth,a projection lens system consisting of 4 plastic lenses and 1 glass lens is renewed to shorten the projection distance by 20 % (in comparison with our ′92 model). Fu rthermore, a new aspherical-shaped lenticular-lens and surface diffuser are introduced into the screen to widen the viewing angle near to that of direct-view type TVs. Consequently,39.5cm set-depth and viewing angle approximately 1. 5 times as wide as that of conventional model have been achieved in 39″(aspect ratio;16:9)rear projection TV.
