Abstract(in English) A color PDP which represents color pictures uses phosphors excited by vacuum ultraviolet light (VUV) generated in gas discharge. Therefore, it is necessary to measure phosphor and its screen characteristics under VUV excitation. In this report, we describe an apparatus to measure optical properties of phosphor screen applying a VUV excimer lamp as an excitation light source, and discuss the results of dependence on phosphor screen thickness of brightness and effects of a reflection layer.
