Abstract(in English) In order to cralify temporal and spatial distribution of VUV from xenon above the electrodes of ac PDPs, we observed 147nm and 173nm VUV emission from xenon by using two-dimensional ultra-high speed electronic camera designed and compleded for the present work. It is confirmed that xenon emission of 147nm is simultaneously generated on both cathodes and anodes, but the emission process above cathodes is different from the one above anodes, and the reaction of the discharge above cathodes and anodes are discussed. It is cralified that the surface-discharge ac color PDPs have the advantage of improving luminance and luminous efficiency from observing of the xenon gas discharge process.
