Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Requirements for PDPs are larger size, higher resolution, higher luminance and lower power consumption. To satisfy these requirements, luminous efficiency must be improved. A new drive method of AC PDPs is proposed which superposes high frequency voltage on the conventional low frequency rectangular sustain pulses. The method is effective in reducing the operating voltage and increasing the luminance, with an expected increase of luminous efficiency. The drive circuit however requires an improvement.
