Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Linear Photo-Polymerisation of Polyvinyl Cinnamate (PVC) photopolymer acts as an optical aligning layer inducing orientation in adjacent liquid crystals. We have promoted the homogeneous as well as homeotropic alignment on PVC substrates under different experimental condition. We attribute the different anchoring direction in different experimental condition to the morphology of the polymer surface. From the observation we anticipate that PVC as an optical aligning layer follows the Friedel-Creagh-Kmetz rule.
