Abstract(in English) To achieve gray shades for thin film electroluminescent (EL) displays, a hybrid gray scale technique has been examined. Combination of frame averaging and 4 level amplitude modulation can produce 16 gray levels. It is found that averaged brightness is affected by polarization, which is inherent for EL devices with structure. Effect of polarization on frame averaging technique is also discussed.
