Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Through a numerical approach based on the Landau-de Gennes theory, we show that novel orientational states and phase transitions may be induced in nematic liquid crystals by micro-textured substrates, i.e., spatially mixed homeotropic, planar, or homogeneous alignment potentials.
