Abstract(in English) TN mode liquid crystal used in AMLCDs has poor and asymmetrical viewing angle, especially for vertical viewing zone. We have developed the novel OSR (One-side-rubbing) liquid crystal display to improve the viewing angle. The cell consists of two PI-Coated substrates in which one is multi-rubbing and another is non-rubbing. The viewing angle of such a display system has been improved to be about ±60 degrees for horizontal and ±40 degrees for vertical view.
