Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Digital Beamforming(DBF) Antenna with multi-function is a strong candidate for onboard antenna in the future wireless communication systems using satellite and stratospheric platform. Since several tens or more elements are required to achieve high antenna gain, enhancement of signal processing efficiency will be the key point. We have developed a 64-element receiving DBF antenna system in Ka-band. Digital signal processing block is constructed by field programmable gate arrays(FPGAs) which have possibility of efficient parallel signal processing. For the proof-of-concept of space division multiple access(SDMA), beamforming scheme by maximal-ratio-combining using known reference sequences is implemented in this system. This paper describes the hardware structure of the developed DBF antenna system and required gate scale to achieve the SDMA for up to 4 users.
