Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A dielectric phase shifter's loss is low even at frequencies higher than quasi-millimeter bnad. On the other hand, it is difficult to miniaturize dielectric phase shifter, and the planar array antenna with high controllability constructed using a dielectric phase shifter has not been reported. In this study, we propose a new beam steerable array antenna combined with dielectric phase shifter, which can simultaneously realize a phase shift in many lines utilizing only one structure. This configuration using parallel tapered microstrip lines and a rectangular dielectric plate which can be slid along the tapered lines, is described. The taper shape optimization method to give the appropriate delay to each line is shown. The experimental result obtained from the fabricated antenna revealed the expected beam steering property. Also, it is shown that proposed configuration allows for use of dielectric phase shifters in construction of the antenna, and a simpler feedline, and easy control of phase shift in each element.
