Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) SCR has proposed millimeter-wave personal satellite communications systems using a geostationary platform.Such a system will require portable earth stations for users, low user cost, and large user capacity. These requirements can be met by using an onboard processor with baseband switching, and this paper proposes a suitable configuration for this processor Its components include multicarrier demodulator units dealing with FDM signals containing more than 100 SCPC signals,a switch unit whose switching capacity is 3000 x 3000,and a switch control unit whose call processing capacity is 150 calls, sec.A trial model was developed to confirm the suitability of this configuration, and the prospects for practical use of the onboard processor can be deduced from the performance of that model.
