An ESPRIT Direction Finding Algorithm Calibrating the Differences between Sub-Arrays

Abstract(in English) The array directions of arrival(DOA) finding method with ESPRIT algorithm is less computationally expensive because it does not need spatial search operations. The conventional ESPRIT requires two sub-array antennas whose manifold characteristics are identical each other. However, in actual antenna array, there may be some differences between sub-arrays so that estimation accuracy in DOA by conventional ESPRIT may be degraded significantly. In this paper we propose a novel calibrating ESPRIT algorithm, where the eigenvectors for signal space are transformed by a manifold difference matrix, so as to reduce the estimation errors caused by sub-array manifold differences. We also show the DOA estimation error of the proposed algorithm is less than 1/10 of the conventional one by some numerical simulation.
