Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is necessary for safe vehicle transportation to check road surface condition. We propose to use the polarization ratio as a monitoring index of the condition. If the ratio is obtained, it would tell us the information of the relative dielectic constant of road. Since the constant is related to medium itself or wetness of the medium, it would be possible to estimate the road surface condition. In this report, we present the hardware design of the simple bistatic FM-CW radar to measure the polarization ratio and show the measurement result using the system and classify the road surface conditions.
