Abstract(in English) Authors present a dielectric lens antenna fed by a phased array for LEO satellite communications. In LEO satellite communication systems, as beam scanning angle is larger, the antennas need higher gain because span loss increase. Consequently, the antenna aperture and the number of element antennas increase if normal planar phased arrays are used in those systems. Authors study beam scanning characteristics and beam shaping of a phased array with a dielectric lens having the convex cross section and the symmetrical shape of rotation with respect to vertex axis. In the calculations of 127-element array, the presented antenna obtains higher gain in large scanning angle than the normal planar array having the same number of elements. Also, in the situation of 1500km satellite altitude and 350km coverage area radius on the earth, the shaped beams of this antenna achieves gain variation less than 5.5dB in the coverage area.
