Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Microwave coagulation therapy (MCT) has been used for the treatment of small hepatocellular carcinoma. The microwave radiated from the inserted thin coaxial-slot antenna heats the tumor up to the coagulating temperature of the tissue. In the MCT, electrical characteristics of the tissue change because of rapid rise of the temperature. In order to simulate the temperature in the tumor accurately, we have introduced the analysis considering the temperature-dependent electric constants. By using this analytical method, the temperature rise around the antenna ws examined for the variations of the input power and the blood flow rate.
