Determination of the k-vector by wave distribution function method

Abstract(in English) The Akebono(Exos-D)satellite was launched into a semi-polar orbit for the purpose of observing particles and waves in polar region.We have studied by making use of VLF and ELF wave data.One of the important subjects is to estimate the k-vector(wave normal direction)of the observed waves.But the k-vector of natural wave phenomena such as hiss,cannot be estimated by Means′ method or eig en value method.Now,we are studying about VLF hiss observed in polar region and banded harmonics observed in equatorial region.In order to estimate the k-vector of these types of waves,we, therefore,apply Wave Distribution Function(WDF)Method.In the present report,we show the result of simulation of applying WDF to the hiss and the results of estimating the k-vector from the observed data.
