Abstract(in English) DS-CDMA has been extensively investigated as a promissing application to the future mobile radio access. This paper proposes a coherent multicode DS-CDMA which has number of features:2-layered spreading code assignment, traffic-adaptive transmission power control, pilot-symbol-aided coherent reverse link, and multicode transmission. Its design and transmission performance, focused on the reverse link, are described. It is shown in this paper that a combination of 2-layered spreading code and traffic-adaptive power control provides an operation equivalent to dynamic channel assignment in TDMA/FDMA systems. Computer simulation results of reverse link transmission point out that for reducing transmit power, the spreading bandwidth should be wide enough to resolve at least two paths and if the spreading bandwidth is too narrow, then a space diversity should be used.
