Abstract(in English) A novel beam forming network architecture for multiple beam phased array antennas based on the Butler matrix is presented. An array of microwave variable power dividers is attached to the input ports of a Butler matrix to realize antenna beam steering. The circuit for an S-band, 7-beam, 8-element phased array antenna is designed, and the prototype circuit fabricated to experimentally evaluate its performance. The antenna array factors were calculated using the experimental data, and excellent agreement was achieved with the theoretical values confirming the antenna beam steering function of the circuit.
