Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Stars several light-years apart can be observed since the lights of stars reach the earth through the free-space propagation which undergoes no absorption, refraction and dispersion at all. The radio communication currently used but most analogous to the free-space propagation is found in communication between satellites and between satellite and earth, showing a good quality and stable communication performances. Realization of the free-space propagation over terrestrial communication requires restriction of the influences of reflection and diffraction by thc earth ground surface and effects of atmospheric refraction within appropriate limits. Extensive adoption of Japanese microwave relay system into various countries in the world owes to successful provision of high-quality relay system by means of "free-space propagation". Studies have accumulated so far on to a realization of the free-space type EMC test site based on past experience. As a result, the Universal Utility Test Site (UUTS or U Site in short) which is applicable to broad frequency band i.e., 30MHz~400GHz covering VHF, UHF, SHF and EHF, and applicable to the test distances, 0.5m and 10m or longer has been developed successfully. This paper deals with the required conditions for free-space propagation, method to realize the free-space condition, examples of the U-site. |
