Multipoint-to-Multipoint Routing for multimedia communication services

Abstract(in English) In near future, it is essential for multimedia networks to satisfy Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements, such as bandwidth, transimission reliability, low end-to-end delay and so on. On the other hand, multicast services have been increasingly used by various continuous media applications which involve video and audio. Especially, multipoint-to-multipoint services like multimedia collaboration that allow many users to communicate each other will be widespread. When a conventional multicast routing algorithm is applied to these services, however, it may cause high traffic concentration on some links, and what is worse, it cannot utilize the network resouces efficiently. Therefore, we propose a new multipoint-to-multipoint routing algorithm with multiple QoS requirements. This algorithm is based on Fallback+algorithm, which is a QoS routing algorithm and store tentetive routes found on the way to select the objective route. In the proposed algorithm, each node joined a multicast group constructs a multicast tree with Fallback+ in parallel first, and then exchanges the tree data each other. After that, according to the information of used links by the trees, it reconstructs the multicast tree with tentative routes produced by Fallback+. Simulation experiments show that it achieves good traffic load balance and efficient use of network resources.
