Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We propose a new channel reservation protocol which can reduce message delay by using a counter for detection of a source conflict in a WDM single-hop network with non-equivalent propagation delay. A source conflict occurs when a source node has the right to transmit more than two messages to their destination node using different wavelengths in the same time slot. When a source conflict occurs, the source node has to obtain the reservation for the unsuccessful message again. In the proposed protocol, each node has a source conflict counter for detecting a source conflict. This counter enables a source node to detect a source conflict prior to the assignment of wavelengths. So.the source node in the proposed protocol can start a procedure to obtain reservation again earlier than that in the conventional one. We approximately analyze throughput considering the effect of a source conflict, and show results of approximate analysis and computer simulation are close. Also, we compare the proposed protocol with the conventional one with regard to mean message delay performance by computer simulations. As a result, we show that our proposed protocol can reduce mean message delay dramatically without degrading thoughput performance as the offered load becomes large. |
