Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes a message delay measurement-based adaptive access control scheme using a reservation TDMA/adaptive modulation system for multimedia communication systems. In the proposed system, voice and long data are transmitted by the reservation TDMA protocol, whereas the short message is transmitted by the slotted ALOHA protocol using unused slots or temporarily released slots produced by the voice activation technique. To further increase the released slots, the proposed system also applies an adaptive modulation technique. To dynamically and effectively distinguish long and short data before transmission, this paper employs a message delay measurement based adaptive access control scheme that autonomously controls a threshold that decides whether a message is long or short. Computer simulation confirms that the proposed scheme is very effective in improving average delay Performance of the data terminals without degrading channel capacity for voice terminals. |
