Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We simulated the traffic characteristics in an internal speed-up crossbar ATM switch architecture.First, the traffic characteristics without the back-pressure algorithm(NBP switch)are superior to that with back-pressure algorithm(BP switch)under bursty traffic loading or under larger internal speed-up ratio which is the ratio of the internal speed against the input line speed. It means that, under the condition, the BP switch requires more cell buffers than the NRP switch to achieve an required cell loss probability. When an output buffer is full, called "Hot Point",cells in input buffers are discarded because cells with the destination to the output from input buffers are not transmitted. That decreases the traffic characteristics of the switch.Secondly,in the NBP switch,it is revealed that the internal speed-up ratio is 2 enough to reduce the cell loss probability under random traffic loading. Finally,to reduce the cell loss by increasing cell buffers, where the cell buffers are effectively placed is cleared.
