Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper we evaluate a guided restoration algorithm in ATM networks. As compared with a fully distributed restoration algorithm, the guided restoration algorithm preplans restoration paths. Therefore it reduces the number of VPs for which reservation messages must be broadcasted and enables to use spare resources efficiently. We also evaluate an improved method of reservation messages broadcasting. It reduces the number of redundant broadcasting reservation messages. The evaluation is carried out on for a network composed of 14 nodes in double link failure cases by computer simulation. The result shows the guided restoration algorithm and the improved method of reservation messages broadcasting achieve high restoration ratio and short restoration time.
