Abstract(in English) To make communication systems scalable as well as reliable, decentralization of communication systems is considered as one of the promising approaches.On the other hand,in order to effectively support the multimedia information,the ATM transmission technology is widely regarded as the key technology.The multimedia ATM-LAN illustrates a good example,having these two characteristics.Taking the fact that the ATM switching systems play an essential role in ATM networks,the ATM switching systems should guarantee high availability.This paper discusses some call and connection recovery methods particularly designed for ATM switching systems and proposes some ways to improve their performance.
