Abstract(in English) Enlarging the capacity of ATM switching system increases not only the switch size but also the number of line interfaces.As a way for the reduction of line interface hardware size,we propose a line interface structure composed from individual parts and a common part,and techniques of a sharing cell-management, compressing memories and a high-density mounting method using MCM. We also propose a structure with per-channel substrates and optical-modules separated from those substrates.
