An Implementation of Destination-Due-Date Descipline of IP Packet Routing in Store-and-Forward Networks

Abstract(in English) Even on today's IP networks, to support only best-effort service, there is a need for research on how to provide various Quality-of-Service (QoS) classes to support real-time communications to allow clients transporting datagrams with high-performance guarantees. For this purpose, in the future, integrated routers will have to include an element of time-switching function, in addition to conventional routing function, to manage multiple buffers due to grades of priorities. In these circumstances, we have proposed an novel priority control and routing mechanism based on integrated routers with time-switching function to provide a new QoS class of Destination-Due-Date disciplines in packet switching networks. In this paper, design and implementation of proposed priority control and routing mechanism on FreeBSD PC-based routers, are discussed.
