QoS Control with MPLS over ATM Model

Abstract(in English) This paper describes a scalable and QoS oriented solution for traffic engineering in IP networks. Recently, MPLS is regarded as a promised scheme due to its capability of traffic engineering, while it is still hard to provide QoS guarantees in a current IP router platform. On the othes hand, ATM has long provided QoS and some sort of traffic engineering. We propose a model in which an MPLS network is constructed over ATM networks. This model utilizes the QoS control capability provided by ATM and provides a mechanism for QoS routing and traffic engineering in an end-to-end manner.
