Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a bandwidth management scheme based on prior estimation for residual bandwidth in ATM networks. The proposed scheme is able to support statistical and deterministic bandwidth allocation services in the same VP. The proposed scheme estimates the residual bandwidth in advance by generating virtual traffic requests that are not real ones. Therefore, it can instantaneously judge if the required bandwidth is larger than the estimated residual bandwidth. Numerical results indicates that the proposed scheme provides good accurate conservative-values of the residual bandwidth. In addition, since the statistical and deterministic bandwidth allocation services are accomodated in the same VP, the network resource is able to be utilized without complex VP capacity control.
