Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Due to the rapid growth of WWW(World-Wide-Web) users, network carriers and Internet providers are now going to recostruct the "Internet infrastructure". For this, it is necessary to study WWW traffic characteristics to reflect it to an efficient design of such an infrastracture. In this paper, we analyze WWW traffic characteristics as the first step of our study. Using Proxy server's logging at Osaka University, we characterize the WWW traffic in terms of request interval times, the distribution of document sizes, the popularity of documents, and so on.
