Layered Group Construction in Reliable Multicast Communications

Abstract(in English) A reliable multicast applications are attracted considerable attention.In reliable multicast communications, to guarantee reliability, the transmission rate of the sender node should be limited to the minimun rate of all nodes.In general, network environment of reliable multicast is heterogeneous.Consequently, high capacity node will be operated in low utility.Then we propose a layered multicast group construction which can inprove performance degradation in the heterogeneous network.In layered multicast group construction, a whole group is dividied into multiple subgroups, so that higher layer includes higher capacity nodes.By dividing, the diversity of nodes capacity inside subgroups bocomes smaller.By layering, the average performance of the whole mutlicast group is improved.In this paper, we show the upper bounds of layers to meet the various environment and the optimal point for multi layering.Finaly, we evaluate the delay characteristics of proposed layered group construction.
