Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The ISO/IEC has proposed a standard for Enhanced DQDB supporting connection-oriented services. For connection-oriented services, a scheme for Call Admission Control (CAC) has a great impact on the performance of a network. In this paper, we propose a new distributed CAC scheme with an immediate decision method for Enhanced DQDB subnetwork. To control call admission at each node, we introduce a Bandwidth Management Function (BMF) block and three types of primitives which are used to inform all nodes in a subnetwork of the allocated and released bandwidth. The BMF block manages bandwidth information and controls call admission. The BMF block receiving a request from other BMF blocks should determine whether to accept the request or not within one slot-time duration. It is shown that the proposed CAC scheme can work in real-time constraint for a metropolitan area and the performance characteristics are demonstrated by simulation.
