Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Long-period fiber grating (LPFG) having grating periodicity in the hundreds microns, functions as a band rejection filter. Since the wavelength characteristic of LPFG dramatically changes with subsequent annealing process after UV exposure, it is not easy to predict the characteristic. Then, we propose the method for controlling the wavelength characteristic by locally loading the medium of different refractive index outside the fiber cladding. Results of the experiment show that resonance wavelength and depth could be independently tuned.
