Abstract(in English) We have successfully developed a gain-shifted high thulium(Tm)doped fiber amplifier. The high Tm concentration doping technique we propose achieves a low population inversion as a result of increasing the Tm ion cross relaxation rate. We also propose one color 1.4 μm pumping and a double pass configuration in order to improve the power conversion efficiency(PCE). Using these techniques, we achieved a highest PCE of 42%. Furthermore, we realized the error free transmission of 10 Gb/s 8-channel signals over 120 km of dispersion-shifted fiber(DSF)by employing our GS-TDFAs as post-and pre-amplifiers.
