Wavelength conversion at 40 Gbps using electroabsorption waveguide

Abstract(in English) Wavelength conversion at 40 Gbps utilizing cross-phase modulation in an electroabsorption waveguide(EA-WG)was demonstrated. An error-free conversion was verified with a rather large power penalty around 5 dB, which was attributed to the insertion loss of the EA-WG. The power penalty had no dependence on the pattern length, which proved that the pattern effect in the EA-WG based wavelength converter was negligibly small.
