Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We report on a new theoretical investigation of the mode-hopping phenomenon semiconductor lasers and its effect on operation characteristics of the device. The study is based on a simulation model that takes account of the possible mechanisms of noniinear gain saturation, and adopts inclusion of the Langevin noise sources to the multimode rate equations. A new classification of the possible modal-operation states of semiconductor lasers over a wide range of the linewidth enhancement factor and the injection current is demonstrated. Explanation of the multimode-operation behavior of long-wavelength FP-lasers is newly introduced. |
