Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a method, in which a cw assist light with the transparent wavelength is injected to a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA), for the reduction of a pattern effect of the SOA-based all-optical switch. It was experimentally verified that the reduction of the gain recovery time of the SOA was obtained without increasing the required switching power utilizing the transparent assist light. The 3 dB improvement in receiver sensitivity was achieved for the SOA-based all-optical switch at 10 Gbps with PRBS 2^<31>-1 due to the reduction of the pattern effect by means of the transparent assist light.
