Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In-C-band wavelength conversion was carried out with pseudorandom pattern at 10 Gbps by a wavelength converter utilizing photoinduced cross-phase modulation in an electroabsorption waveguide having a bulk absorption layer that was deployed in a delay-interference one-arm Mach-Zehnder interferometer.A clear eye-opening of converted pulse as well as an error-free operation were confirmed, which proved that no serious deterioration of the signal quality occurred during the conversion. The power penalty of the wavelength converter was 1.8 dB, Which can be mainly attributed to the insertion loss of the electroabsorption waveguide.
