Abstract(in English) A medium-power all-solid-state diode-pumped Nd : YAG laser, passively Q-switched employing Cr^<4+> : YAG as saturable absorber and intra-cavity frequency doubled by a LBO crystal, has been developed. The device produces 263-μJ, 87.8-ns pulses of ~3.0kW peak power, with 1.0-W average power output at 532nm. The dynamics of the pulse formation is discussed by introducing a nonlinear loss term caused by the frequency doubler into the coupled rate equations describing the operation of saturable absorber passively Q-switched lasers.
