Optical SSB modulation using integrated LiNbO_3 modulator

Abstract(in English) For the surge of communication demand in recent years, vigorous research and development are being done on various kinds of optical communication systems and devices. SSB technologies bring us special merits in optical fiber communication systems, such as higher-density wavelength multiplexing and longer-haul fiber transmission due to the reduced optical power and less nonlinear optical effects. This paper reports the fabrication of an integrated LN optical SSB modulator and the demonstration of the optical SSB modulation. At these results, Optical SSB modulation with the suppression of main carrier (-21.4 dB) and J_<-1> subcarrier (-31.3 dB) was demonstrated by a 10GHz single-tone signal.
