Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The optical interconnections, which is expected to be a candidate to solve the data transmission delay, skew, and lack of communication bandwidth due to the physical limitation of electrical interconnects, would provide the possibility of new type of optoelectronic information processing systems as well as enhancing the performance of the physical layer. This paper shows a parallel processing system using reconfigurable free-space optical interconnections including its architectural features and implementations of optoelectronic processing modules and optical interconnection modules by means of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers and spatial light modulators. The algorithms is also discussed which exploits the bandwidth supplied by optics and processing versatility provided by electronics.
