Abstract(in English) | A low-cost polymer PLC (planar lightwave circuit) transceiver module for optical access network is demonstrated. In this polymer PLC platform, the waveguide properties are not deteriorated even with a thin underclad due to large refractive index difference between Si02 and fluorinated polymide. Thus, height matching between the polymer waveguide and the LD/PD is achieved without any special height adjustment structure. A new MMI (multi-mode interference) asymmetric Y branch has low radiation loss as well as enough wide operation wavelength range. A fabricated transceiver module has shown high optical output power (>2mW@60mA) and high responsivity (>0.39 A/W). |
