Fabrication and Characterization of Er/Yb co-doped optical waveguide amplifier by silver ion exchange

Abstract(in English) We describe the experimental results on the gain characteristics of Er/Yb co-doped optical waveguide amplifiers (EYDWA) in soda-lime glasses by silver ion exchange. The coupling loss between the EYDWA and input/output fiber was decreased by burying the EYDWA by means of two-step ion exchange, and as a result, the net gain of +2.3dB was achieved for 2cm-long waveguide with pump power of 90mW.
