Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Pulse compression was observed by using an InGaAsP/InP slab-type coupled-waveguide structure. The maximum temporal compression factor was about four (compression from 2.2 to 0.51 ps). The observed waveguide-length dependence of the compression factor agrees well with the calculated one obtained by theoretical model based on dispersion compensation by highly dispersive coupled-waveguide modes. This indicates that the coupled-waveguide structure has the potential for use in a compact and transmissive dispersion compensator.
