Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Self-pulsing lasers which reduce excess noise due to the optical feedback are developed. However, the feedback induced noise is not reduced when the pulsation lasers is operated under several operating conditions. For this problem, an idea called the effective modulation index was introduced to evaluate the generating conditions, based on the mode competition theory. So we measured characteristics of the feedback noise for more than ten different types of self-pulsing lasers. Therefore, it was experimentally confirmed that not only the pulsation intensity but also the phase relation between the carrier number and the photon number was concerned with the feedback noise, and the validity of the theoretical analysis was experimentally showed.
