Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A discontinuous optical waveguide is numerically analyzed by the Fourier series expansion method. In this method, a periodic boundary is artificially introduced in the transverse direction, and the electromagnetic field components are expanded in terms of Fourier series. The continuous conditions of electromagnetic fields are easily satisfied by the coincidence of each Fourier coefficient faced the discontinuity. However, the artificial periodicity yields unphysical waves when radiation waves reach the boundary. In this paper, PML boundary is introduced to extinguish the unphysical waves, and numerical results show its effectivity.
