Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose for the first time a new diagnosis using laser ablation of biological tissue. This method is based on the time-gate spectroscopy of plume ablated from the tissue surface by irradiation of a nanosecond laser pulse. The spectroscopic characteristics are described in detail as well as the configuration of the measurement system. This method has quite high sensitivity for detection of calcium even in human hair and nail, and the basic experimental data are presented toward diagnosis of osteoporosis.
