Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A Cherekov laser composed of a nonlinear dielectric planar waveguide and a relativistic electron beam is investigated. The partial differential equation which describes the spatial evolution of the growing waves is derived and numerically solved for some initial electromagnetic wave beam using a variational approach. The numerical result shows that a spatial soliton can be excited in the nonlinear waveguide by a relativistic electron beam. In addition, the above result is compared with that obtained via FE-BPM. The comparison shows the validity and usefulness of the variational approach.
