Near-field Analysis of Micro-Aperture Surface Emitting Laser

Abstract(in English) We present a novel method of producing evanescent waves using vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) with a metal micro-aperture for high density data storage. In this report, we propose a novel VCSEL with a metal micro-aperture and analyze evanescent waves emitted from the micro-aperture by using a 2-dimensional finite element method (FEM). We have obtained a transmissivity through the aperture which depends on Au thickness, aperture size, and polarization. We found a possibility of generating light waves confined in the aperture as small as 100nm. In addition, we have fabricated a 0.85μm GaAs/AlGaAs VCSEL loaded by a Au thin film.
