Abstract(in English) | The use of a Chirped Fiber Bragg Grating (CFBG) to compensate for the chromatic dispersion of the 10Gbit/s non dispersion shifted fiber systems has been investigated. It was then reported [1] that a CFBG does not incur the non-linear waveform distortion unlike Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF), and improve the optical SNR of the system, while it creates a waveform distortion due to its non-zero dispersion ripple characteristic. In this report, assuming the possible system configuration, the requirements of the applicable CFBGs and the impact of the residual dispersion ripple and its accumulation along the cascade on the system performance are described, and the methods to improve on the system performance and device characteristics are discussed. |
